Locked Up

Your heart’s locked up, and I’m locked out.

I don’t know whether to cry or shout.

For all I know, it could be anything.

And not knowing tugs at my heartstrings.

Always around, but never there.

It’s hard to tell if you really care.

I know the feeling, or lack thereof,

For I too once hid from any love,

And all other feelings too.

Because I was too afraid of feeling blue.

But you helped unlock my heart,

And somehow you gave me a brand new start.

I can’t tell you now, but maybe one day,

With your heart no longer locked away,

Freedom will ring across the land,

And together through life, we’ll walk, hand in hand.
