Much Overdue Updates

It’s been a while since I updated this blog, I’ve been so focused on my travel blog (ABC TravelEye). I thought about this blog today though, when another “playlist” popped into my head.  Surprisingly, it hasn’t changed much from the one I made three years ago. But first, an update on my bucket list.

In the past two years, I have crossed numerous things off my list, some I didn’t even have on it.

  • I have made progress on my continents, by visiting South America and Antarctica, only Australia left to go!
  • I made progress on my Disneylands by visiting Tokyo and Hong Kong Disney parks.  Then they went and opened one in Shanghai, so still two to go!
  • I have ridden numerous animals, including Camels, Horses, an Ostrich, Elephants, Dolphins, and a Yak.  So I guess that’s a thing of mine.
  • Dancing happened. I learned how to Tango, and did it a few times in Argentina.  I also salsa danced in Peru, swing danced in London, and two-stepped in Ft. Worth, TX.  And I danced on a few mountain sides, so I guess that’s also my thing.
  • I did a multi-day trek in the Himalayas (something I hadn’t even dreamed of before!)  It wasn’t the summit of the mountain, but it was the highest mountain pass traversable by foot – at over 5400m high!  Next, Kilimanjaro….
  • I also reached my dream of spending more than a couple weeks in another country by spending five weeks in Scotland and six weeks in Nepal.  Still want to move somewhere new (but not there).
  • I managed to shop for shoes in Quebec in French and in Chile in Spanish – language win!
  • O yeah, and I got a new job, again.

So yeah, needless to say, you can see why I’ve been too busy the past couple years to post!

New and Improved Bucket List

It seems the more places you go, the more places you want to go.  There is so much to see and do in the world, it’s almost overwhelming!  I’ve updated my list (and categorized it by region!)  Who knows if I will ever be able to see it all!

Bucket List Update

You may recall a post where I added things to my bucket list once I started working on ships (this one). I can now say, that after my last contract I have accomplished the following things on my bucket list…

Hike up a mountain – I’ve hiked a few all over the world, but I have yet to hike to the summit, so I can only halfway cross this off…
Swim with dolphins – Would like to try it in a natural setting, not a giant swimming pool
Horseback ride in water
Horseback ride bareback – have to to ride them in the water!
Stand under a waterfall – I visited/climbed 4 of them in 4 different countries!
Ride a camel – I did this in two countries: Jamaica and Tunisia!
See Mayan ruins
Pub Crawl (in a foreign city) – I went on an awesome one in London!
Visit the Ice Bar – Went to the original one in Stockholm, but apparently there are better ones elsewhere, perhaps this will stay on my list for now 😉

These two were done in my last contract….
-Lumberjack show
-Help in a beach cleanup

I have also now danced in other countries, stayed in a hostel, and had an understandable conversation with someone in another language (they understand my French in Tunisia!)

I also thought of a few new things to add to my list as my new itineraries open up more possibilities….

  • Attend a concert in a cave
  • Tour “Wine Country” in California
  • See wild kangaroos and koalas
  • Experience a “White Night”
  • See the Northern Lights
  • Visit all 7 continents
  • Go to a “swim-up” bar
  • Visit an Egyptian pyramid
  • Attend a Carnaval celebration
  • Visit all the Disneylands
  • Participate in a Flash Mob
  • Ride an elephant

I know I will get to cross a few of these off soon as my next journey takes me to the top of the world and then over to Asia!

New Bucket List for Cruising

Working on ships has opened up opportunities for me to do so much new things!  Here’s a few I hope to do on this contract and my next…

  • Dog Mushing
  • Spelunking
  • Hike up a mountain
  • Bike through a town
  • Swim with dolphins
  • Visit a Beer/Rum/Liquor factory
  • Horseback ride in water
  • Horseback ride bareback
  • Stand under a waterfall
  • Ride a camel
  • See Mayan ruins
  • Pub Crawl (in a foreign city- Key West counts!)
  • Kayak
  • Visit the Ice Bar
  • Lumberjack show
  • Help in a beach cleanup

    Sidenote:

It’s hilarious to read Shore Excursions for Tampa- they go to UT and Ybor city- in other words- they do about $100 what it costs thousands of college kids thousands of dollars to do.

Things to Do Before I Leave

Part of this blog is about the crazy random happenstances that have made up my life the past few years.  Part of that, has been a Bucket List (even though most of the awesome things I have done were not originally on said list).  One of the most awesome things to happen to me has been to get a new job… on a cruise ship.  So while I realize it may be years, or never, before I do most of the things on my Bucket List, I have made a mini list of the things I would like to do, or do once more,  before I leave in April.  So, here is that list:

  1. Gasparilla Parade
  2. Go to Mardi Gras at Universal
  3. Bands, Brews, and BBQ at Busch Gardens/SeaWorld
  4. Go to MOSI
  5. Go to Florida Aquarium
  6. Renn Fest
  7. Go line dancing in Orlando (Cowboy’s, Country Castle, or something)
  8. Go to Renegade’s (WPB)
  9. Go to the Fair or Strawberry Festival
  10. Go to the beach (hey, I’ll be in Alaska for 4 months!)
  11. Visit all my favorite bars/clubs at least once more (Dallas Bull, Round Up, Castle, Zendah Grotto, MacDinton’s)—- This will probably take place in my “going away party week” lol!

Not on “The List”

So, in going over my “bucket list”, I realized that, while I have done many awesome things this year (Daytona 500, Laser Tag Rave, Paint Party, etc.) I have not really done much of anything that was actually ON the list.  I did dance on a bar (that was never officially on the list, but has always been on the list in my head…in fact, I shall put it on the list just so I can cross it off).  I also steered a sort-of boat in Missouri.  It was actually a “duck”, and I steered it the way one might say they steered the boat on the Jaws ride… so does that count?  I think I need to edit my list to include some things I might be more likely to actually DO!  So, list re-writing… COMMENCE!

In the mean time, I also realized that it has been a while since I made a playlist for you.  So to fix that, I give you the two country songs that any dancer/musician/lover should appreciate even if they do not like country

and…

I also give you this which keeps randomly popping into my head…

And this, because it was stuck in my head this morning…

…welcome to the chaos that is my mind!

Life Can Be Like A Musical

I just added something to my bucket list today.  #34 on there, be part of a flash mob.  I originally got the idea from a scene in the show Weeds where there’s an awesome flash mob…

and then today I saw a video of this recent local flash mob….

I think the idea of just randomly breaking out into dance to make other people smile is awesome.  Plus, who doesn’t wish life was like a musical where everyone randomly breaks out into song and choreographed dance numbers?!?!?!?
